Valentine Vanilla Cake

A sweet vanilla cake with heart sprinkles, perfect for Valentine’s Day or any celebration.

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temp)
  • 1¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¾ cup pink & red heart sprinkles
  • 1½ cups unsalted butter (room temp)
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pink food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg whites and vanilla.
  3. Mix in sour cream and buttermilk alternately with dry ingredients.
  4. Gently fold in sprinkles.
  5. Divide batter into three 8-inch greased and lined cake pans.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 25–28 minutes. Cool completely.
  7. Beat butter until creamy. Slowly add powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream.
  8. Add pink food coloring if desired.
  9. Stack layers with frosting in between and decorate.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter after adding sprinkles.
  • Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
  • Customize frosting color for decoration.
