Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely grated (or 2 tbsp minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 3/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional, for extra sticky glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 12 tbsp water (only if needed to thin)
  • Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly grease (or use parchment).
  2. In a bowl, stir breadcrumbs and milk and let sit 2 minutes. Add ground beef, egg, garlic, onion, salt, pepper, and seasoning. Mix just until combined (don’t overmix).
  3. Shape into 1½-inch meatballs (about 20–24).
  4. Bake 16–18 minutes until browned and cooked through (160°F internal).
  5. While meatballs bake, whisk BBQ sauce, sweet chili sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes in a skillet over medium heat. Simmer 3–5 minutes until glossy.
  6. Add baked meatballs to the sauce and gently toss to coat. Simmer 5 minutes until thick and sticky.
  7. Spoon into a bowl, drizzle extra sauce, and sprinkle parsley.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meatball mixture to keep them tender.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes for desired heat.
  • Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized meatballs.
