Sticky Honey Garlic Sesame Shrimp is a quick and flavorful dish featuring shrimp coated in a glossy, sweet, and savory sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (plus more to garnish)
  • Optional: sliced green onions for topping

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry, then toss with cornstarch until lightly coated.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through. Remove shrimp to a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic and cook for 20–30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey, soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Simmer 1–2 minutes until glossy and slightly thickened.
  5. Add shrimp back to the pan and toss to coat in the sticky sauce.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with extra sesame seeds (and green onions if using).

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
  • Best enjoyed fresh, as the sauce thickens upon cooling.
