Ingredients

Scale
  • Dough
    • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
    • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs, room temperature
    • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 4 to 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Filling
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
    • 2 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla Icing
    • 2 cups powdered sugar
    • 3 tbsp milk (plus more as needed)
    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, stir warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix in eggs, melted butter, and salt. Add 4 cups flour and stir until a soft dough forms. Add more flour 1–2 tbsp at a time if sticky.
  3. Knead 6–8 minutes (by hand or mixer with dough hook) until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 60–90 minutes until doubled.
  4. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Roll dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle.
  5. Spread softened butter over the dough. Sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll up tightly from the long side and pinch the seam closed. Slice into 12 rolls and place in the baking dish.
  7. Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes until puffy.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 18–24 minutes, until lightly golden on top.
  9. Whisk icing ingredients until smooth and pourable. Spread over warm rolls so it melts into the swirls.

Notes

  • Let the dough rise in a warm place for best results.
  • Adjust icing thickness by adding more milk if needed.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
