Homemade Cheese Pizza

A classic homemade cheese pizza with a golden crust and bubbly mozzarella topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (or marinara)
  • 22 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan (optional)
  • Olive oil for brushing the crust

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit 5–10 mins until foamy. Add oil, salt, and flour. Knead until smooth—about 7 minutes. Let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out dough on a floured surface and transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread sauce evenly over dough.
  3. Sprinkle mozzarella generously over the sauce, then Parmesan if using.
  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly with browned spots.
  5. Let cool slightly, then slice into 8 classic wedges. Serve hot.
